-The golden torch is a beautiful, multi-stem, columnar cactus. As it grows it produces many upright branches forming an eventual golden cluster as seen in the listing's main photo. In their non-native environment, these guys can grow up to 7-8 feet tall.
-Offered as a single stem and impressively large 2ft ( approximately 26-28"). Rooting instructions are included in every order.
-Prefers well draining cactus soil, full sun to part shade tolerated and moderate watering during the hot dry summer. As with other winter-dormant species, much less water is required during the colder months of the year. Known to be a drought tolerant champion these plants kryptonite is sitting wet. So over watering should be avoided at costs. Make sure the plant has dried out completely before watering. If unsure wait a few more days and then water.
-Incredibly hardy down to 25F so can be planted in ground in zones that are typically right out of the range due to winter weather conditions.
-Vivid nocturnal vibrant yellow-green color blooms dazzle at night. Their flowers are between six to eight inches in diameter. The blossoms appear in late spring and are showy, fragrant and a real treat if you time it right and get to see them in their full glory.
-Use it as an compliment in rock gardens, in groupings surrounded by boulders, or in raised planters or pots/containers. This vertical accent also looks great in small, confined spaces or against a tall wall or foundation of a building. Also performs well in potted indoors so long as its sunshine needs are being met.
-The golden torch is native to western Argentina and Bolivia and share many characteristics with other cacti species in the region like night-blooming, being pollinated by bats primarily and being able to withstand colder than normal cacti temps.
Thank you and happy planting!
